The Business challenge
A Mobile Testing & commissioning App was developed and deployed for a the engineering and consulting teams in Hong Kong. The move from paper to digital was driven by the corporate desire to reduce the reliance on paper, improve speed and workflow and digitally transform the mobile testing and commissioning team.
The Testing team need to carry out a series of tests as part of the commissioning process, testing equipment in specific steps before it can be handed over to the clients for use. One of the key areas was the ability to have a mobile solution that can synchronise jobs both ways between the handheld device and the office. It needed to push both data from forms and images in an environment that may not have access to reliable internet.
The Business Solution
The application was developed utilising a Claris FileMaker Pro and Go platforms for the operational management and tracking of jobs allocated to engineers. It also needed the ability to recall a job, or re-allocate a job and track the key stages and dates with warnings if a job is late or has the potential to run late.
The mobile testing app was deployed to Apple iPads utilising Claris FileMaker Go and has the ability to synchronise the data at the touch of a button as and when an internet connection becomes available.
Results
The key benefits of the mobile version has been the ability to capture the data digitally, take both still and video images of potential issues, raise warnings if the site has issues that will impact testing and the ability to print labels to with ID’s, dates and tests completed along with the results of the tests.
The solution has been credited with significantly improving customer satisfaction whilst improving operational efficiencies and reducing the implementation time for new and upgraded systems.
The Solution has vastly improved the speed and accuracy within the business and is being evaluated for a global rollout.
